二階幹事長の「琴線に触れた」――宋妍さんの作文「『日本語の日』に花を咲かせよう」

二階幹事長の「琴線に触れた」――宋妍さんの作文「『日本語の日』に花を咲かせよう」

第13回中国人の日本語作文コンクールで最優秀賞（日本大使賞）を受賞した河北工業大学の宋妍さん。宋さんは副賞の「１週間の日本の旅」で2月26日に来日し、政官界の要人との面会や、コンクールの支援企業の訪問など、あわただしくスケージュールをこなした。

3月3日には、千代田区の日本教育会館で開かれた「第３回日中教育文化交流シンポジウム」にパネリストとして参加した。日本語をどのように勉強したのかと聞かれた宋さんは「私は日本のバラエティ番組が大好きです。授業で学んだ日本語は本当に日本人との交流で余り使われません。普段の日本語らしい日本語を身につけたいとバラエティ番組をよく見ます」と語った。「低俗だ」との批判もあるバラエティ番組だが、宋さんにとっては日本語上達のための「教材」だという。

宋さんは「今回の1週間で大変貴重な経験を積むことができました」とも語った。日本の元首相や元中国大使ら政府、政党などの要人との面会を念頭に置いた発言だ。この中で自民党の二階俊博幹事長との面会については具体的に触れ、「二階幹事長がおっしゃった『琴線に触れた』という言葉は忘れられません」と感激した面持ちで言った。二階氏が宋さんの作文「『日本語の日』に花を咲かせよう」を読んで、心を動かされたようだ。

作文には自分の大学の学生食堂の調理師さんと日本で震災のあった彼の母親のエピソードを盛り込んだ。被災した母親とは連絡が途絶え心配したが、日本人ボランティアが母親を助けてくれたのだ。その彼が日本人に恩返しをしたいと、宋さんらが取り組むＮＨＫの震災復興のミュージックビデオを運動「100万人の花は咲く」を広げる活動に協力してくれ、活動の輪が広がった。宋さんの作文は「私の大学の人々は『花は咲く』を歌っている。今はまだ小さな活動だが、これが中国全土に広がり、いつか国境を越え、山を通り抜け、日本人の心に届くと信じている」と結ばれている。

私は二階氏の地元の和歌山放送顧問として二階氏との接点があり、二階氏の政治活動や問題意識を注意深く〝ウォッチ〟してきた。だから宋さんの作品に二階氏が目を通せば、どのような想いを抱くか、おぼろげながら感じるところがあった。

作文のモチーフの一つである東日本大震災は、二階氏が心血を注いだ国土強靭化の法整備の取り組みにつながる。また、作文の題名にある「日本語の日」（12月12日＝北京で行われる日本語作文コンクールの表彰式の日）は、防災の理念を、国境を越えて広げようと、二階氏の執念が実って国連総会で実現できた「世界津波の日」（11月5日）に重なる。宋さんを前に頬を緩める二階氏の表情が目に浮かぶようだ。

宋さんが千客万来の自民党本部の幹事長室を訪れたのはシンポの2日前の1日午後4時のこと。幹事長との面会は分刻みだ。ところが二階氏が宋さんとの面会に45分もの時間をさき、秘書をやきもきさせたと聞いた。宋さんを案内した日本僑報社の段躍中編集長は「昨年の最優秀賞の受賞者と会っていただきましたが、今年は3倍の時間をとってくれました」と声を弾ませる。

その場で二階氏が繰り返して口にした「琴線」という言葉を、実は宋さんは知らなかった。素晴らしい作文を書く宋さんにしても日本語学習歴はわずか4年だ。筆談で「琴線」の意味を知った宋さんは自分の心にしっかりと刻み込んだ。からこそ、「忘れられない言葉」になり、シンポでの発言になったのだ。今回の訪日で宋さんにとって最も素敵なお土産は、二階氏がくれた「琴線に触れた」という言葉だったかもしれない。

それにしても、どうして中国人はこのように日本語が上手なのか。宋さんを含め日中から各３人のパネリストが参加したシンポジウムがそのヒントを与えてくれた。昨年の第12回コンクールの一等賞受賞者のパネリスト、郭可純さんは「日本人の先生に外国語の勉強は努力の積み重ねだと教えられましたので、その言葉を心にとめて、本当に毎日、毎日、毎日、暗記、暗記、暗記をしてきた」と話した。上海の大学に留学経験のある日本側パネリストの宮川咲さんは留学当時、大学で中国人の大学院生がキャンパスで早朝、英語の本を歩きながら音読している光景を紹介しながら、中国人の学生は「語学の勉強への意思がすごく強いと感じていた」と強調するのだ。

作文コンクールを主催している段躍中さんによると、中国では日本語学科などで日本語を学べる大学が500校あり、約100万人が日本語学習をしているという。アニメやゲームなど日本文化に魅せられて日本語を独学している中国人を含めると、中国の「日本語人口」はは500万人にもなるという。その最高レベルの代表の一人が宋さんだ。

日中関係は、政治的にはぎくしゃくした状況が続いている。そうした中で今年は日中平和友好条約40周年の記念の年を迎えている。宋さんら日本語学習者は、周りに反日的なムードがあっても、日本への親しみを持って日本語を学んでいる。日本語作文コンクールの作品の数々は、日本人に向けた日中友好の気持ちのこもったメッセージだ。日本人の側はそのメッセージをきちんと受け止めなければならない。
